There is something special about being in the ocean in the late afternoon about an hour before sunset. The light starts to change; it flickers and dances on the waves above... the light dims, shadows emerge and the animals prepare for night time and predators. Octopus eyes watch you from their little caves in the reef. Everything is so alive.😊🦈🦀

Flashback to 2012 - Eye close up macro shot of a Crocodile fish - Cymbacephalus beauforti a type of large flathead which grows up to 50 cm (19.7 in). The eye lappet is like an eyelid which helps to break up the outline of the black iris and improve their camouflage. They are a camouflaged ambush predator endemic to southeast Asian tropical reefs and amazing to photograph!
